Entry in the 2015 RIBAJ Microarchitecture Award for the Design a Cabanon competition to design a modern version of the ‘Cabanon de Vacances’ (vacation home) designed by noted architect Le Corbusier. Le Corbusier designed–in 45 minutes, it is claimed–and built the celebrated Cabanon in 1952 as a tiny vacation home at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin on the Côte d’Azur, retreating there every summer for more than 10 years. Designs were required to comprise a kit of parts mainly made from SterlingOSB and to demonstrate its versatility, strength and sustainability credentials. Sponsor Norbord Incorporated is a leading, Canada-based, manufacturer of engineered wood-based panel products including SterlingOSB.
